Pic of the Day: April 28

This warm weather has me missing the shenanigans that come along with spring snowboarding. Jortski, pond skimming, parking lot BBQs, cold beers... It's weird heading straight back home after touring, but as long as the 'Rona is still raging it's necessary. It also seems like a lot of states are jumping the gun in trying to reopen, but I digress... When things do reopen, it'll be on us to make sure we interact with each other in a responsible manner. Seems like the government is too concerned about their precious economy than saving lives and helping those in need. Alrighty, rant over... Here's your pic of the day!

Day at the Beach

Speaking of pond skimming... Last summer was epic for snowboarding across bodies of water. The Anderson's pond at Snowbird was massive. The highlight however, was the lake on Timp Snowfield.

Me and Tony made the brutal hike up Timpanogos on July 21 last year for the best pond skim session of our lives. I still can't get over how blue the water was. It was the perfect way to cool off on one of the hottest days of the summer. I reckon we'll make this a yearly thing if we can.

I took this photo from the jump built over "The Trench." Which is how I got this angle looking down on top of Tony. There wasn't much margin for error skimming "The Trench." It was narrow and deep and pretty much mandatory to make it all the way across. We dug out one bail out spot just incase the speed wasn't right or one of us took a spill trying to make it across.

Fortunately we both made it every time. The first drop in was definitely a little tense. Once Tony made it that first attempt, it was on! We sessioned the trench several times then cracked a few beers on the iceberg in the middle of the lake. Perfect day at the beach at almost 11,000 feet above sea level.
