Pic of the Day: April 8

Happy Wednesday! Here's your five minute distraction from working from home today!

Terminal Cancer Couloir

Back in March of last year, me and Mike went to Nevada for a little more than 18 hours. We weren't necessarily trying to ride Terminal Cancer Couloir, the main attraction in the Ruby Mountains. We just figured we'd head out there and start walking and see what looks good.

Mike's dogs were along with us for this adventure. We'd never taken them on a mission this ambitious before so we weren't sure how they would handle it. We got to the base of TC and it looked pretty good. Might as well boot up it...

Again, the dogs were with us and this was their first steep bootpack up a couloir. Naturally they crushed it. I'm pretty sure ollie ran to the top and back down to us at least 5 times.

I wanted to find a good spot to set up a shot with Mike and the dogs in frame. The upper part of the line is too tight to really make that happen. About halfway down it opens up pretty nice for a couple big, fast turns. I told Mike to just make a big, sweeping turn underneath me and just hoped the dogs could keep pace. If Harley's tail was any longer the shot wouldn't have turned out.

I feel like this is one of my more unique shots. Obviously you can't really tell the dogs where and when to run down a steep chute so they'll be in the shot. They're pretty good at chasing Mike down whatever we ride though. Harley and Ollie definitely make this shot. It would've been cool with just Mike. But having all 3 of them ripping one of the 50 Classic Ski Descents of North America in the same photo is awesome.

We got them some cheeseburgers to reward them for a big day then sent it back to Salt Lake. What a day!

Have a great Wednesday! See you tomorrow!
