Portillo
We spent Thursday and Friday riding Portillo.
The ski area is tucked high in the Andes with one of the craziest roads you will ever drive leading up to it.
We were lucky to ride powder both days we spent there. Backcountry touring looks like it would be incredibly difficult due to the mountains terminating in Laguna del Inca.
The terrain at the other end of the lake looks absolutely incredible, highlighted by the 15,000ft peaks known as Los Tres Hermanos. You would probably need a boat or helicopter to access that zone, though.
Portillo definitely has some world class terrain and is worth checking out. Make sure you hit up Tio Bob's at the top of Plateau Lift for a burger and drinks!
Right now we are in between storms. It looks like we might get a reset tomorrow.
We decided to drive to the coast and spend today in Vina del Mar. It is a really cool city that sort of reminds me of the San Diego area of Southern California.
Tomorrow we will follow the upcoming storm back to the mountains.
