Spring Training

First, an announcement: I will be doing another art show at The Complex in SLC on April 30. If you would like to go, or just want to show support, please buy a ticket here: rawartists.org/patrickpfister This year, anyone who buys a ticket will receive a 12x16" framed print from me as a thank you gift. Now, lets get to it... Spring has sprung. For the first time since January, we had prolonged high pressure dominate our weather pattern. We're officially in that time of the season where chase the soft aspects around the compass, and search for any cold, dry snow that might be hiding on shaded north aspects. The week began with a quick trip west to Nevada's Ruby Mountains to ride Terminal Cancer Couloir. Although a few people had rode it before us, the line was still in really good shape. Chalky snow up top, packed pow down low, and some soft turns to be had on the apron. The highlight was watching Mike's two dogs run down the chute after us, totally stoked. Back in the Wasatch, conditions remain very good. There was still pow on north aspects even though the daytime temperatures were getting well above freezing. Snow has returned the past few days. Nothing major, but enough to freshen things up a bit. During a break in the storm on Thursday, we did a quick strike on Homicide Chute. The avy debris in the bottom made for some difficult riding conditions. Still fun though. Friday delivered another above average pow day in Big Cottonwood. This season has been all time. Not sure what the coming week will bring. It looks like we will have a brief high pressure period followed by a better-ish looking storm mid to late week. Here's hoping we close out March with some more pow days!
