Tourin' Tuesday: Independence Day 2017
A lot of people have traditions for how they like to spend America's favorite holiday. For us, it's all about going snowboarding.
Zac and Tony on the Baldy trail
Some years it is more difficult than others. Last year we hiked Deseret Peak in hope of riding the Twin Couloirs. Instead we rode a small patch that offered about 15 turns. This year was much easier...almost too easy. The choice was Main Chute at Alta. Although Snowbird is closed for the season, they still allowed us to take snowboards on the tram after signing a waiver. I haven't rode the tram on the 4th of July since closing day of 2011. It sure beats walking up from the bottom of Alta.
For America!
The tram assist cut the hike to about 20 minutes. A lot of hikers gave us weird looks since we had snowboards strapped to our backs. I guess they didn't realize that the season isn't over yet! I was stoked to see that quite a few other people had the same idea as Tony, Zac, and I.
Tony Aadland knows what day it is...Tourin' Tuesday!
Not bad for July! Tony Aadland dropping Main Chute
Freedom to shred! Zac Joseph
We ended up having a pretty big group on top of Baldy. Main Chute is in great shape right now. We could ride almost all the way to the Collins mid-station. Not bad for riding in July on a day where the temperature in Salt Lake was 103! There are still some quality lines to ride this summer in Utah. I'm sure we will keep riding till all that's left is dirt!
Ride till it's dirt
