Turns All Year Chapter 2
December: Month 110
It's not how you start, it's how you finish...
Not that long ago, things were looking pretty bad in the Wasatch. No snow, nothing in the forecast, very warm temperatures, absolute garbage air quality, bare ground on south facing slopes. Character building conditions. We're stronger and better people because of it.
The best snow was back in Cardiff Fork on the Cardiac aprons. Only problem is getting there required going up (and back down) the mostly bare pole line pass route. Once you were back there it was pretty nice though! Anything beats being out of the fart cloud in the valley.
Then the holidays came. And so did the tourists, and the snow, and Santa, and a bunch of two-wheel drive vehicles that got through the sticker check.
It's funny how big a difference two weeks can make. We're now ahead of this time last year in terms of snowfall (and that ended up being a pretty good season). Our snowpack is sketchy as fuck but at least south facing is filled in enough to ride now. Low angle dad pow has been all the rage. High danger means no risers on the uphill haha. Mostly just did super mellow tours up Guardsmans. Conditions were great. Winter is back.
Happy New Year! Hopefully January is another good month along with the rest of this season. The snowpack will eventually heal sooner or later. Till then I'll probably just keep doing mellow shit that isn't all that exciting.
See ya on whatever skin track looks the flattest.
And fuck vail.
