Upside Down

The past couple weeks have been interesting, to say the least. Last Monday's storm was upside down in terms of snowfall, with the valley getting much more than the high terrain. The nearly 2 feet of fresh made super low elevation touring a possibility. Then the mother of all upside down storms came rolling in... 40 inches of snow with over 6 inches of SWE fell from Wednesday night through Friday. Making things worse, the temperatures trended warmer as the storm progressed. When it was all said and done, Little Cottonwood Canyon was closed for 53 straight hours. 20 avalanches hit the road. The debris piles are super impressive. Things have been quiet so far this week. We got a few inches Monday evening and Wednesday morning. Nothing major though. Snow conditions are a mixed bag of various crusts. Stability is good, though so at lest we can take advantage of that. Looks like we have a reset coming Sunday night. Time to rest up a bit and get ready for another round! Bonus Photos: I went out to Antelope Island for the first time in a few years yesterday. Forgot how cool the views out there are!
